The May issue of Chief Executive magazine has the results of the CEO Confidence Index. While there appears to be “more pessimism than optimism” among the responding CEOs, there does seem to be some sense that they are fighting their way through this economic climate.
- 48% say they are responding to and managing through this downturn
- 28% say they are gearing up to take advantage of the turnaround
- 19% say they are not making any significant changes
So I guess the message here is either stay the course, if you can afford to; or make your adjustments and then gear up to be ready to lead the way when things turnaround. The worse thing to do is hide your head in the sand and not do anything to support your brand.
